What is a 'Race Time Derby' game?

The 'Race Time Derby' is the flagship product of the company and forms the centrepiece of all our hire packages. Based on the original 'Donkey Derby' games that are traditionally played in the casinos of Vegas and popular resorts worldwide, the 'Race Time Derby' is identical to the original and includes all the features and characteristics of the commercial version.

How do you play the 'Race Time Derby' game?

Each game is capable of accomodating up to 8 players per race. Each competitor is allocated a play table. Once the race starts each player rolls a ball along the table, aiming for a series of coloured holes. Successful scoring results in a model moving along the track. The more points you score, the further the model moves. The first past the post being declared the winner. The game play is simple to pick up and is suitable for people of all generations. Mastering the game is a much harder proposition.

What are the space requirements for the 'Race Time Derby'?

The derby games are quite considerable in size and therefore a reasonable amount of space is required to enable competitors and spectators to participate in comfort. As a minimum, we recommend that a floor space of 5 metres (wide) by 4 metres (deep) is required, with a height requirement of 3 metres. However consideration should be given to access and viewpoint. If you have any doubts regarding the suitability of the location, please contact us and we would be happy to advise. If space is at a premium and the derby cannot be sited within the location, then an alternative may be 'Photo Finish', a game that provides the same competitive enjoyment as the derby, but on a smaller scale.

Can the 'Race Time Derby' be assembled at my event?

Each 'Race Time Derby' has been designed as a series of models for the purpose of transportation and assembly. Each component can fit through a standard sized door and the usage of lightweight materials enables the game to be carried up and down stairs if necessary. So, even if your event is on the 15th floor of a hotel we can assemble the game exactly where you require. (providing a power point is in close proximity).

What does it cost to hire a game?

All our quotations are now produced using a software package and quotations are only provided in written format (pdf e-mail or posted). By providing us with as much information as possible regarding your event we can ensure that we are able to quote accurately, whilst at the same time reducing the possibility of unforseen problems on the day. The cost to hire comprises of 3 elements in addition to the standard hire cost:

  • Finish time of the event (accomodation charged for events after 11 p.m)

The are exceptions (e.g HAC) and therefore by providing all the information we need, we can make sure you receive the best price possible.

We do not charge extra if the event is not on the ground floor, nor do we charge extra for special days (bank holidays etc.). By letting us know as soon as possible that stairs may be involved etc enables us to prepare properly and deliver on time.

Photo Finish is a virtual 'roll-a-ball' horse racing game that is new to the market, and available exclusively fro Race Time. As with the Race Time Derby, the action involves scoring points by rolling a ball towards a series of coloured holes. Instead of mechanical models travelling along tracks, the action is played out on a giant screen. The more points you score, the better the performance of your horse. Screenshots of the game can be found on the 'Photo Finish' page.
